The only binding force in our country at the moment is cricket. It won’t be wrong to say if cricket is followed religiously other than religion. There is a saying “To beat the best you have to be the best” . With the great cricketing nation moving towards franchise league and elevating their game, it was need of time. Pakistan stepped up and inaugurated it’s own league .
In 2016, due to the efforts of PCB, especially, Najam Sethi – chairman of that time, Pakistan Super League was launched. For the fans like me it was nothing less than any dream coming true. Biggest stars of cricket accompanied by our local talent, MAN I still feel goosebumps.
After the successful first season the league was already in the reign of top leagues like IPL and BBL. It only got better and bigger, more foreign players showed their interest and got included in further seasons. Pakistan national team got stars of present and future thanks to PSL.
What is next? With everything on track, quality of cricket was up to mark, rising talent got a platform to showcase, fans got a month long festival to celebrate but there was still something missing??? Bringing back cricket back to Pakistan; the core reason behind initiating the league.
It was until the second season when the final of the league was played between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators here in our very own Gaddafi Stadium Lahore. Though Peshawar won that final but it was Pakistan who got victorious against all odds. The roaring claim of WE ARE PEACEFUL NATION AND WANT PEACE was made.
This year it won’t be any different infact it will be, because this time Pakistan will host 8 matches including final in Karachi. This league has gone bigger, bigger and bigger. Cannot wait!
