A cafe in London is taking barista art to a whole new level by giving customers a chance to snooze on their self-portraits.
The Tea Terrace, located in the Oxford Street branch of the House of Fraser, has become the first place in Europe to offer a selfie canoe, featuring a picture of customers’ faces on top of their drinks.
Patrons send their headshots to Barista via an online messaging app and are given a choice of cappuccino or hot chocolate as their canvas.
The image is uploaded to the “Sino” machine while the drink is kept in position. The image is then scanned and reproduced on the plant using flavorless food coloring.
The process takes about four minutes before a photo is presented on the broom, ready to be photographed and sent to all points via social media before drinking, and costs about 5. 75.575. ۔ (7.5)
Ehab Salem Sholi, owner of The Terrace, told Reuters that the dining experience has changed completely because of social media. “It’s not enough to provide more food and great service – it’s to be able to Instagram.”
More than 400 personal drinks have been sold since its launch on Saturday, with the hashtag “Selfie Casino” going viral on various social media platforms.
Tea Terrace hopes to trademark the term as it expands its service to two other locations in London, Victoria and Guildford, Surrey.
