ISLAMABAD: The fourth wave of corona virus epidemics showed no signs of slowing down as coronavirus cases active in Pakistan crossed the 60,000 mark on Friday morning.

Figures from the National Command and Operations Center show that Pakistan lost 86 more people to the virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the national death toll to 23,295.

After taking 58,203 tests, the country reported 4,537 cases of Covid 19 in one day, the highest number of one-day cases since 4,696 cases were recorded in the country on May 1 two months ago.

The NCOC figures put the country’s positive rate at 7.79 percent.

According to the official portal, the number of deaths from coronavirus in the country has risen to 23,295 and the total number of cases has reached 1,024,861.

In addition, 1,489 patients have recovered from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours across the country, bringing the total number of recoveries to 938,843 while the number of active cases is 62,723.
