KABUL: Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has reiterated that his government will not bow to any destructive force.
Ghani made the remarks while addressing a joint sitting of the Afghan National Assembly on Monday.
“The current situation is the result of the sudden withdrawal of foreign troops from the country,” Ghani said.
He added that today the Afghan people are clearly in a state of aggression because aggression and war have been imposed on them.
According to Ghani, the situation cannot change unless the Taliban move towards peace.
The Afghan president told the meeting that a security plan was being implemented in the country, under which the situation would be brought under control within six months.
He claimed that his security plan had the support of the United States.
“We have set our priorities, and the Taliban and their bodyguards,” Ghani said.
He claimed that the only way to Afghan victory was unity.
Commenting on women’s rights in Afghanistan, Ghani said he assured Afghan women that the government would protect their rights.
