ISLAMABAD: In another major victory for the ruling party, PTI candidate Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi was on Wednesday elected the new Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir.
According to details, Abdul Qayyum Niazi got 33 votes in the newly formed Legislative Assembly of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and secured the top position.
However, PPP and PML-N joint candidate Chaudhry Latif Akbar managed to get only 15 votes.

It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Imran Khan had earlier today nominated Abdul Qayyum Niazi as the PTI candidate for the post of Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir.
Giving details, Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry had said that the Prime Minister had taken this decision after “considerable consultation and suggestions”.
“They [Niazi] Is a dynamic, real political activist whose heart beats with the party’s political activists.
Niazi had won the Azad Kashmir elections from LA-18 constituency. He was not one of the leading candidates for the prestigious post. Initially, Barrister Sultan Mahmood and Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan were considered the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
