ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday said that for the first time in the history of the country, the government would harmonize technology and data to eliminate any possibility of rigging in the general elections.
“We will conduct the elections with the necessary technical arrangements to ensure transparent and fair elections,” he said at the launch of various initiatives at the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) headquarters.
The new opening plans include Alien Registration Card, PakVoid 19 Mobile Vaccination Pass, National Certification and Renewal Campaign, establishment of 66 NADRA Registration Centers across the country and inauguration of 90 Mobile Registration Vans.
The Prime Minister said that the technology would be harmonized with the data to eliminate fake voter registration. He added that the results based on free and transparent practice would be acceptable to all.
On the occasion of the issuance of foreign registration cards and work permits for foreigners, he said that this step would bring the class into the social and financial mainstream.
More than 3m registered Afghan refugees will also benefit from the facility, which will help them run their businesses legally, he said.
Prime Minister Imran Khan said that it was the responsibility of the government to provide facilities to the people in every possible way.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated a state-of-the-art system based on artificial intelligence to prevent fake identity cards.
Under the new system, the head of the family will be able to know or confirm the details of his family members by just sending an SMS and will notify NADRA in case of any addition or deletion.
Earlier on his arrival at NADRA headquarters, the Prime Minister inspected a specially designed mobile registration van which is fully equipped to provide NADRA services to people in remote areas of the country.
Chairman NADRA Tariq Malik apprised the Prime Minister about various facilities including data collection, fingerprint and photo scanning which would be provided to those who are unable to visit NADRA centers.
Alien registration cards and work permits will enable foreigners and their families to run businesses, enroll in private educational institutions, private employment, mobile SIMs, utility connections, open bank accounts, register vehicles and make other sales purchases.
Cardholders will also be protected from legal action under the Foreigners Act.
The mobile application COVID-19 will instantly verify the documents of PASS organizations or Pakistanis traveling inside and outside Pakistan.
By scanning the QR code on the vaccination certificate, one can easily know the authenticity of the document which will show the owner’s name, passport number and other details.
