Vaccination for school and college students will begin on September 6


KARACHI: The Sindh government on Monday announced that it would start vaccinating students of schools and colleges to curb the spread of corona virus.

During a meeting, Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Pechoho and Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah announced that the vaccination phase in private and public educational institutions would begin on September 6.

Under the decision, 1.4 million students from grade 9 to grade 12 will be vaccinated, while a total of 2,527 teams from the Sindh Health Department will take part in the vaccination campaign.

In the first phase, the vaccination process will start at the district level and will gradually spread and the school administration has been directed to contact the parents for their consent.

Dr. Pechoho said parents should be taken into confidence for vaccination.

He further directed the authorities to ensure registration after completion of vaccination process.

The health department is involved in all vaccine arrangements in schools. Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah said: “Vaccination is essential to continue the teaching process and protect children.”

The vaccination campaign will be launched by the health department after the arrangements are completed within six days.
