The authors wrote, “Overall, myocarditis was uncommon in individuals with and without Covid 19. However, Covid 19 was significantly associated with an increased risk of myocarditis, the risk of which varies with age. ۔ “
The highest risk was seen in patients under the age of 16 who had a 37-fold increased risk of myocarditis compared to those who did not have the corona virus.
This was followed by children over 75, 65 to 74 years old and 50 to 64 years old.
The underlying cause is not understood, but it could be related to a viral heart infection, the study said – or, under the age of 16, it could be related to a multi-system inflammatory syndrome.
The CDC study cited an article by Israeli researchers published last week in the New England Journal of Medicine, which found that the Messenger RNA vaccine tripled the risk of myocarditis.
