Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday emphasized the important role of the international community in providing the necessary humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan to alleviate the suffering of ordinary people.

Speaking to Tajik President Emomali Rakhmon, Imran Khan “highlighted the immediate importance of economic relations with Afghanistan in order to prevent economic collapse.”

Highlighting the importance of national reconciliation in this context, the Prime Minister highlighted Pakistan’s participation in efforts for lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan.

The two leaders agreed to stay in close touch to further coordinate their efforts to support peace and stability in Afghanistan.

The two officials expressed satisfaction at the current level of bilateral cooperation and reiterated their commitment to continue mutual efforts to further strengthen the close ties.

Prime Minister Imran Khan also thanked President Rehman for his and his delegation’s hospitality during his recent visit to Dushanbe on September 16-17.

The two leaders exchanged views following the talks in Dushanbe last month.

Prime Minister Imran Khan paid a two-day official visit to Tajikistan in September to attend the 20th Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO-CHS) in Dushanbe.
