LONDON: Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has signed a contract to play for Middlesex for the 2022 season, the English County Cricket Club announced on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old left-arm fast bowler will play first-class and white ball cricket for the club until he joins Pakistan for international duty in mid-July.

Afridi has played 19 Tests, 28 ODIs and 30 T20I matches since his international debut.

“We are delighted to have one of the most exciting talents in international cricket,” said Andrew Cornish, chief executive of Middlesex.

Shaheen is a world class fast bowler and we are happy that he will represent us in 2022.

Shaheen said he is happy to have the opportunity to play at Lord’s, where the Middlesex play most of their home matches.

“I’m excited to play for Middlesex next season,” he said. “I know from my time in England that they are a great county and playing cricket at home would be a dream come true.”
