ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Friday said that the government would soon provide “huge relief” to the people on essential food items.
Fawad’s statement came amid a nationwide protest by opposition parties against rising inflation in the country.
The Minister said that relief would be provided to the people on many basic food items including wheat, sugar, pulses and ghee.
“Apart from food items, the government will also provide relief to the people on health and education,” he said, adding that all citizens of Punjab would be eligible to get health cards by March 2022.
“The issuance of the cards will start in December this year and citizens will be able to choose a doctor or a hospital for treatment,” the minister said.
He said that with the use of health card, citizens will be able to avail the services of both public and private hospitals free of cost.
Fawad Chaudhry said that every family in Punjab would be able to use Rs 10 lakh annually from the health card while this “game changer program will now provide quality treatment to the poor as well as the middle class.”
