Niaz, Akhtar went off the air after an argument on screen.

Pakistan Television (PTV) has decided to take off sports show host Dr Noman Niaz and bowling legend Shoaib Akhtar after their on-screen altercation made headlines across the country.

Former Pakistani speed star Akhtar quit live on air after encountering “rude and offensive” behavior during a show on PTV Sports.

In a post-match show, after Pakistan’s win over New Zealand, Akhtar and the hosts of the show, Niaz, fast bowlers Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf talk about the impact of the Lahore Qalandars’ Player Development Program (PDP) on performance. While doing so, they got into a verbal argument. .

“You’re a little rude and I don’t want to say this: but if you’re smarter, you can go. I’m saying this on air,” Niaz told Akhtar before leaving for the commercial break.

Shoaib and Niaz stayed on air after the break but the former finally decided to leave the show after apologizing to other guests, including great cricketers like Sir Viv Richards and David Gower.

“I’m so sorry people, I’m so sorry. I’m resigning from PTV. The way I was treated on national TV, I don’t think I should sit here right now. So, I’m resigning. Yours. Thank you very much, ”Akhtar said before leaving the seat.

Akhtar later explained the incident via a short video and two tweets on his official Twitter account.

“Several clips are circulating on social media so I thought I should explain. When Dr. Noman asked me to leave the show he was rude and disrespectful. It was embarrassing especially when you have Sir Vivian Richards. And legends like David Gower are sitting on the seat with some of my contemporaries, “read one of his tweets.

“I tried to save everyone from embarrassment by saying that I was pulling Dr. Noman’s leg out of mutual understanding that Dr. Noman would also politely apologize and we would move on with the show, which he did. Refused to Then I had no choice. “

In response to the incident, the PTV management published a response that they have formed a committee to investigate the incident.

However, the investigation will take time and due to increasing pressure on social media to remove Niaz from the PTV sports show, the PTV management issued another notice that he and Akhtar will remain off air until the investigation is completed.

Many former cricketers and other celebrities from different walks of life tweeted in favor of Akhtar, saying that a national star show should not have been treated like this.
