PPP, MQM-P to unanimously agree to adopt LG law for serving Sindh

KARACHI: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the MQM on Thursday agreed to work together for the adoption of the Local Government Act, which will benefit the urban and rural residents of the province.

The announcement was made by the parties at a joint press conference at the MQM’s head office in Bahadurabad.

Talking to reporters, the leaders of both the parties said that both the PPP and the MQM must work together for Sindh and the rest of the country and said that the parties agreed to continue talks for further amendments. Is. Provincial Local Government Act

MQM leader Kanwar Naveed Jamil said the meeting between the two parties was part of ongoing talks following the signing of an agreement between the MQM and the PPP. He said that such meetings have been held in the past and will continue to be held in the future.

He said that the latest meeting had considered the suggestions made by his party to improve the local body law.

“Before the amendments to the provincial LG law were finalized, there had to be another round of talks between the two parties so that it could be submitted to the Sindh Assembly for approval,” Jamil added.

The MQMP leader further said that both the parties agreed that legislation should be enacted which would be beneficial not only for the residents of Karachi and Hyderabad but also for the rural areas of the province.

Replying to a question, Jamil said that before making any decision to join the Sindh government as an ally, his priority was to implement an agreement between MQM and PPP while also amending the Local Government Act. Gone.
