Foods for Lactating Mother

Mother’s milk has the power of primary nutrition that is necessary for the child’s physical and mental development. Mother’s diet affects the child’s health in the form of milk. Mother should eat a healthy diet, so that mother’s milk gives enough nutrients to babies. Here are the foods that is beneficial for lactating mothers. 

Milk

Mother should not dive up until the birth of the baby since the birth of milk. some experts say that the lactating mothers should be use Ghee and other dairy products without hesitation. Cow milk is very beneficial for breastfeeding mothers. Milk contains essential vitamins and minerals like calcium, potassium, Vitamin A & D. These minerals are great for the health of both the child and the mother. 

 ​Veggies

Green leaf vegetable like spinach, mustard leaves, methi soy are useful foods for lactating mothers. Spinach contains the ingredients that prevent from the breast cancer. Others vegetables like carrot are also the good sources of nutrients. Vitamins in the carrots increase the mother’s milk properties, it is better to cook carrot, soup or juice in milk. Their nutrient benefits pass to babies through breast milk. 

Fruits

Fruits like oranges, strawberries and apricots are the pack of vitamin C. Two small oranges contain 120 milligram vitamin c which is required by breast mother per day. Apricots are the pack of calcium, Potassium and vitamin C & A that increase the milk and makes it healthy for growing baby Strawberries prevents mother from dehydration. 

Brown rice

Brown rice is used to replace white rice for lactating mothers. Brown rice is rich in fiber, stabilizing blood sugar, adding hunger, and restoring energy. Also Increase serotonin level in body, which is a hormone for milk production. 

 Fennel seeds

Fennel seeds are beneficial for breastfeeding mothers. It not only increases mother’s milk, but also removes child’s bellyache. It can be boiled in milk or thirsted after eating.

 Fenugreek  

Methi and maternal grandmother around the globe are considered as a mother-in-law’s diet. Vitamins B, Iron, beta Carbon, Omega 3 are found in the fenugreek. Methi can be used in the form of maternal grains, cinnamon starch, methi saag and methi.

Poppy seeds

After the birth of the baby, mothers often suffer from anxiety, panic and mental stress. Useful to use poppy seeds for such women is useful. Consumption can be eaten once in a day. 

Sweet potato

Sweet potato is the best source of Vitamins C, B, Calcium, Magnesium and Fiber the best diet for breastfeeding mothers. Sweet potato is galactagogue which is a substance for increase milk. 

Should not Eat by Lactating mothers   

  • Milking mothers should not be worried about calorie, but also lightweight should be exercised. 
  • Mothers should not be empty stomach for a long time. 
  • Caffeine (tea, coffee and cold drinks) can be more harmful for breastfeeding mothers.
  • If the child has any kind of allergies (infections, stirring the skin), then the mother should be careful about the use of food like spicy peppers, cold water, cold rice and chocolate.
