The federal government has decided to relocate Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) head office from which is currently based in Karachi to Islamabad.

The decision to move Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) head office was reportedly taken in a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan.

This move has been influenced by the fact that the Aviation Division is based in Islamabad. A final recommendation on this matter will be presented in about six months.

According to the reports, immediate action was not taken as the Director General of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and other representatives from the aviation division were not present in the meeting.

Apart from the matter relating to the relocation of head office of the Pakistan International Airline (PIA), formulation of new aviation policies in order to achieve the required profitability for PIA was also discussed in the said meeting, the report said.

It should not be left unmentioned that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), which is the national flag-carrier, has made several decisions and moves in order to regain its lost glory during the past one year or so.

These several decisions and steps include the revival of routes that were suspended in the past, closure of loss-making routes, and announcement of executive economy class and many more.

A couple of days ago, Air Marshal Arshad Malik, the then head of the Pakistan Airforce (PAF) and now the chairman of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has directed the national flag-carrier PIA to stop playing music during flights with immediate effect.

He has in fact directed the administration of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to play Qaseeda Burda Shareef instead of playing melodeous music. The airline has now started a trial run on the flight route from Islamabad to Lahore.
