Antibiotics Resistance a raising issue
Antibiotics Resistance a raising issue: Antibiotics are comprised of two words: anti and biotics, anti means against and biotics mean life so in short words antibiotics are those substances which are against life but against which life?? They are against bacteria which are living organisms also.
At present, a large number of antibiotics are in use to combat various bacterial diseases and their importance cannot be denied at all but the main issue of concern is increased resistance in bacteria toward various antibiotics. In actual, there are many reasons which are contributing to enhanced resistance.
Main Factors contributing to enhanced resistance
- Non-Professional doctors
- Over usage
- Massive utilization of antibiotics in dairy and poultry
- Inappropriate antibiotics prescription
- Availability of just a few new antibiotics
- Barriers of Regulation
There is a large number of non-professional and un-trained doctors and as they are not professionally trained so they continue to prescribe antibiotics without taking concern about their possible outcomes. Moreover, people usually avoid to go to doctors and just in order to remain on save. The side from fees of professional doctors they rely on self-medication and as a result.
They continue to use antibiotics without consult and it has also been observed that they use antibiotics even in case of viral diseases. In the dairy and poultry industry, massive amounts of antibiotics are employed. And the bacteria in poultry and dairy become resistant to these antibiotics in the long run. And these resistant bacteria are ultimately transmitted into humans through eggs, chicken, meat and milk.
People usually feel good just after one or day days after starting the course of antibiotics and once they feel some relief they stop taking antibiotics although the course of antibiotics has not been completed and as a result bacteria becomes resistant to these antibiotics.
Antibiotics Resistance a raising issue: Moreover as a synthesis of new antibiotics is expensive so most of drug manufacturing countries usually do not manufacture new antibiotics as it takes long run for them to recover their manufacturing cost and they prefer to synthesize chemotherapeutics because they get more profit by them.
Once certain genes of bacteria get resistance incorporated in them it continues to get transferred in future generations of bacteria so the chain process occurs. So, in order to combat and control of these things all factors need to be reversed.
