A disability is any condition that makes it more difficult for a person to do certain activities or interact with the world around them. These conditions or impairments may be cognitive, developmental intellectual, mental, physical, sensory or a combination of multiple factors.
‘‘Disability is an umbrella term, covering impairments, activity limitations and participation restriction. an impairment is a problem in body function or structure; an activity limitation is a difficulty encountered by an individual in executing a task or action; while a participation restriction is a problem experienced by an individual in involvement in life situation.
Disability is thus not just a health problem. It is a complex phenomenon, reflecting the interaction between features of a persons body and feature of the society in which he or she lives’’
Disability is a fact in the life of many people. People with disabilities were treated very unsympathetically by the majority in our society. People attitude reflected the view that persons with disabilities were unhealthy, defective and deviant. The prevailing attitude was that such individuals were incapable of participating in or contributing to society and that they must rely on welfare or charitable organizations. In this condition when disables face these problems in society then they may experience depression and social isolation as a result of their limitations. They may also experience financial instability as a result of their mental or physical limitations.
Different types of disabilities are Mobility or physical impairments Spinal cord disabilities. Head injuries, brain disability Vision disabilities, hearing Cognitive or learning disabilities Psychological disabilities Perhaps I am more animated about this because in my life tragic incident took place in the year 2006 when I am only 6. This severe accident hampered me and I sustained disability for life. Unfortunately, my right arm was stuck in the seat of the car and was broken and cut off from arm root. I was lost my arm and my separated arm was buried in the graveyard. I am of a few living people who can see her arm grave.
However, I want to say that stop treating people with disabilities as less than human. Stop making fun of disables. People with disabilities must be treated with respect and dignity. They are human beings with feelings and emotions and deserve the same amount of caring respect as all people do. No one has control over what they were born with and the fortunate ones have note right to be disrespectful towards the unfortunate ones. These people must have the freedom to choose how they want to live their lives and receive the support they need.
My message for disables and society is that the handicap persons are not inferior. They can do everything that they want. As I, firmly believe in God and accepted this inability and tried for the bright future of mine. I have completed my fsc and now got admission in BS Psychology in riphah international university. As we know world is full of pain and miseries and blend of happiness and advantage. But in this situation people when caught in sufferings lose the hearts and suffer from an inferiority complex, and go into the dark aspects of life, lose the ability and potential what God has blessed man on the universe.
This is a denial of blessings of God which is sin and forbidden in Islam. We must promote our beliefs in the struggle and ordeal to convert the disadvantage into the advantage and excel in every sphere of life. God will extend justice and hard work of mandrels go waste. Always trust in God, God knows better and does better instead of human being thinking’s. God will help me and another handicap in guarding against this inability. Insha’Allah.
